Mash Up

Power as defined by self objectification and a measure of wealth

chief designer Jonathan Ive has cemented his reputation as the Armani of Apple

he has been responsible for a whirlwind of innovation

Ms. Winfrey etched herself into the culture by revolutionizing the television talk show

For someone who has enjoyed outsize victories in almost every venture she has pursued

It's difficult to do something radically new, unless you are at the heart of a company."

She is an embodiment of success, especially for African Americans and women.

Lady Gaga idealizes this way of being in the world

Both a child of and a product of television

It’s easy to construe Gaga as suggesting that frank self-objectification is a form of real power.

There is nobody like Lady Gaga

She is a billionaire, but she is also a “woman of the people,

The genius of Gaga is to make it seem obvious

Jonathan Ive has covered this distance to establish himself as one of the world's most celebrated and sought after designers.

being paid huge sums to do what he loves best.

Ive is notoriously self-effacing, but his colleagues call him a genius.

The Environment and Structure

Five primary photos

Blue lighting used to extenuate the structure and design of the exterior of Freud's lab, the uneven slit windows are lit up evidently as one begins to devour into a sense of curiosity into what may lie inside the structure and what 'secrets' it may hide.

Orange lighting shown to light up the proportional even geometry of long rectangular windows,  highlighting the idea of order and proportion of mathematics behind the logic of the building.

Both the structures are shown to nestle comofortably within ther environment, however Freud's lab is shown to sit on top of rocks rather than be embedded into them like Newtons'. This is to support the idea that dreams are free, escaping the physical realities and understanding of logic.
Newton's lab conforms with logic, therefore the idea of structure has to make sense in his lab. This dictates the reason behind the strong support beams which extend down and embedd themselves into the rocks.
Further details of structure embedded within environment and focus towards the waterfall which has been added to add a depth into an interaction between structure and environment in how one may still enjoy the waterfall from the lab.

 Additional photos

Walk way and meeting point connecting Freud's lab.

Refinement of Structure

Final view 1
 Final veiw 2

Above: Newton's lab considered the idea of a very physical and realistic structure which would enforce 'the idea and principle of mathematics to control the physical universe', thus there was a central focus towards structural integrity and how the structure was supported.

Above :On the otherhand, Freud's lab was the exact opposite, pulling towards a drift in reality into a universe that explored dreams and how one may find layers upon layer of secret desires embedded within the structure. This pushed towards the exploration of how partitions could help to enhance the feeling of layers and the idea of exploration.

View of structure from Newton's lab (closest) and Freud's lab (far end)

Overall view considering the meetup point linked together by the presence of a walkway

I wanted to consider the interaction of structure and environment, the idea that that one would like to find a built structure which could be enclosed and isolated from the outside as shown by the labs but also interactive with the its surrounding.....the main walkway, a scenic tour of the environment that led up to the climax of the meeting point which was designed almost like a viewing platform to enjoy contextual environment space.

Materials

MATERIALS

Chosen Materials: Light, Medium, Dark

DARK: The dark material created was based on the idea of Newton's interest in numbers. It was designed to emphasise further on the agenda that the physical universe is controlled by the principle of mathematics thus the presence of obvious and well recognised maths symbols embedded within the dark material layer.

MEDIUM: medium texture was based on the agenda of Freud's lab and how dreams could explore layer upon layers of secret desires

LIGHT: Light texture was based on the meeting point or how the different agendas would come together, it considered that while the dreams escaped reality it did not necessarily escape the idea of geometry and proportion controlled by mathematics.
