elevators and meeting space

Concept: Jon Ive office space

Jon Ive's building space was designed in consideration with his achievements as a designer who considers the simplicity and purity of forms. Consquently his building is shown to reflect this with the immersion of simplified shapes to create a dynamic double triple leveled space which also overlooked an idea of privacy in regards to his highly confidential projects.

The idea of power is enforced with the towering structure which sits directly above on a cliff face, the protruding rectangular mass portraying an idea of authority and presence to those on the bridge.

Jon Ive liked the idea of the simplicity of form, the design of his office space is shown also to conform with this idea. In regards to this design, part of the inspiration for the structure comes from Villa Savoye by Le Corbusier.

Concept: Lady Gaga Office Space

The structural design behind Lady Gaga's office space is shown to a replicate a free flowing consideration of space reflecting the singer's creativity and personality. The structure considers certain aspects of transparency with the the overlapping rectangular frames to suggest of the of the fame of Lady Gaga. However, privacy within officespace is also enfored with effective partitioning.

concept:environment and the bridge

The environment I have created was based on the beachfronts and rock cliffs in Cornwall, U.K. This environment with its interesting rocky outcrops and steep valleys was seen as ideal in the portrayal of a structure which demonstrated power, the idea being that the physical presence of a dynamic bridge overhanging a seeminly impossible environment would assert towards the power agenda of both clients.

Bridge Design

In exploration of a dynamic bridge design, the idea of power was also considered, the two office spaces designed to seemingly overlook the main linking walkway alluding to a sense of authority and presence acknowledging both Jonathon Ive and Lady Gaga from their respective offices.

The upper level of the two level bridge being the mainwalk way suits a scenic agenda which revoles around the beauty of the cliffwalls and beach which it hangs over. One of the key agendas in designing the bridge was consideration of the idea of framing as suggested by the middle piece with the multitudes of frames present within a wall, designed to frame the natural environment both above and below the same way a painting would.  

The lower level of the bridge was designed as a cantilevering platform where the two elevators would faciliate as the only means of transport in reaching the otherside, the meeting space situated directly underneath the main level walkway.

On the descending stairs on the second level lift platform, overlooking the other side of the bridge and seperated platform.

Finalised concept of the bridge in sketchup, the idea of horizontal middle piece walkway which and the seperation of two seperate scenic lift platforms on lower levels helped to satisfy a certain dynamic solution which was both aesthetically pleasing and practical. The main agenda of this bridge was to relate back to the idea of power, purely suggested by the presence of such a massive structure.

Preliminary draft of the bridge. The original intention was to create a double layered structure, the first level being a mainwalk way that had accessed to the other side, while the second level served as means as a lift platform where the two elevators would be situated at. However, the design seemed too symmetric and in terms of scale with the beachfront environment did not seem make an impact, which suggested a monumental structure based on the idea of power
